Day-wise Itinerary

You will start from Haridwar early in the morning. We drive to Barkot which is a very pretty town. On the way we will stop at Kempty Falls in Mussoorie you can splash around a bit. Then we keep driving. The roads are okay but little bumpy. Reach Barkot and sleep tight because tomorrow is a big day.

Today we go to Yamunotri. First we drive to Janki Chatti. From there you have to walk like 5 kilometers to the temple. You can also take a pony or a palki if walking is hard. After doing darshan at the temple and taking blessing from the hot water spring we walk back to the car. Then we drive back to the hotel in Barkot. You will be tired but very happy.

Morning breakfast and then we hit the road to Uttarkashi. It is a very nice drive along the river. Uttarkashi is a quiet place. We will visit the famous Kashi Vishwanath temple here. Just relax at the hotel tonight.

Get ready to see the Ganga. We drive to Gangotri which is a very beautiful place surrounded by tall trees and mountains. Take a holy dip in the river if you want but the water is freezing cold. Do your pooja and darshan peacefully. Then we drive back to Uttarkashi for the night.

This is a long driving day. We go to Guptkashi which is on the way to Kedarnath. You will see amazing views of the mandakini river. Just sit back in the car and enjoy the music and the mountains. Check into the hotel and rest.

Today is the most important day. We drive to Sonprayag and then take a local jeep to Gaurikund. From Gaurikund the real trek starts. It is a 16 km trek to Kedarnath temple. It is hard work. You can hire a mule or a helicopter if you booked it earlier. When you finally see the big Kedarnath temple in front of the snow mountains you will forget all the pain. We stay in Kedarnath tonight.

Wake up early and go for the morning darshan if you missed it last night. The morning aarti is so peaceful. After that we start walking down back to Gaurikund. Our car will be waiting there to pick you up. We drive back to Guptkashi. You will sleep like a baby tonight.

We drive to Badrinath today. The roads get better now. When we reach Badrinath we go straight to the temple. The Badrinath temple is so colorful and beautiful. In the evening you can go to the hot water spring called Tapt Kund it is right next to the temple. It feels so good after the cold weather.

In the morning we can go to Mana village. It is the last village of India before the Tibet border. It is very cool to see. After that we start driving down to Rudraprayag. This is where the Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers meet. It looks really nice. We stay here for the night.

Last day of the trip. We drive back to Haridwar. We will drop you at the railway station or your hotel. Your Char Dham Yatra is complete now. Go home with lots of good memories and say thanks to God for a safe trip.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Yes it is safe but they need to be little careful. The weather can be tricky. For Kedarnath old people should take helicopter or palki so they dont get too tired walking. Always ask your doctor before planning the trip.

    May and June is the best time. September and October is also very good. Avoid the monsoon months of July and August because landslides happen a lot due to heavy rain.

    Only Kedarnath has a long trek of 16 km up and down. Yamunotri has a small trek of around 5 km. For Badrinath and Gangotri you can go very close by car so no big trekking is needed.

    Carry lots of warm clothes. Even in summer the nights are very cold. Bring a good raincoat, comfortable walking shoes, and your regular medicines. Do not carry heavy bags it will be hard to walk with them.

    Yes kids can definitely go. Just make sure you keep them warm all the time. They might get motion sickness on the curvy roads so keep some medicine for that. Keep them hydrated and give them light food to eat.
